Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Region 3
The mission of the Procurement Technical Assistance Centers of Michigan (PTAC) is to enhance national defense and economic development within the State of Michigan by assisting Michigan businesses in obtaining and performing on federal, state and local government contracts; thus ensuring a broad base of capable suppliers for the defense industry and other agencies.  There are 13 Procurement Technical Assistance Center offices located throughout Michigan.  

Bid Match:  The PTAC Bid Match subscription provides solicitation notices related to the products/services your company wishes to sell to the government.  This service scans a variety of federal, local, and state government agencies and international procurement postings to provide a report specific to your company's products/services.

One-on-One Counseling/Assistance (by appointment): The PTAC provides an opportunity to address specific client issues; for example:

  • Orientation to the procurement system
  • Registration assistance
  • Bid preparation assistance
  • Subcontracting opportunities
  • Marketing strategies
  • Training seminars and conferences
  • Troubleshooting

Procurement History:  The Federal Logistics Information System (FLIS) database provides military procurement history and technical data, if available, on National Stock Numbers (NSNs), Part Numbers (P/Ns) and CAGE codes.  Reports will be provided to clients within 24 hours.  Requests can be submitted by email or phone.

Specifications, Standards, and Drawings:  The PTAC has access to specifications that are frequently used by their clients.  Their collection consists of military specifications/standards and industry specifications/standards.  The specifications available through the PTAC include military standards (MIL, MIL STD, MIL HDBK, DOD STD, FED STD, MS QQQ, and PPP) and DOD-adopted industry standards, including ASTM and AIA/NAS documents.  Many of these standards are also available online.  Contact the PTAC for assistance in finding the standards online.  In addition the PTAC is ready to assist you in locating drawings that pertain to solicitations you are interested in bidding on.

Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE)         

The Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) is a nationwide non-profit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth, and success of small businesses.  SCORE serves as a resource partner with the Small Business Administration (SBA).  Working and retired executives and business owners donate their time and expertise as volunteer business counselors and provide confidential counseling and mentoring free of charge.  SCORE assists approximately 300,000 entrepreneurs annually.

Small Business & Technology Development         Centers

Michigan Small         Business & Technology Development Centers (MI-SBTDC) can be a tremendous asset         for small businesses.  MI-SBTDCs,         headquartered at Grand Valley State University, are a statewide network that         provides quality counseling, training, and market research for a variety         of small businesses that are emerging and growing throughout Michigan:         new ventures, existing small businesses, expanding businesses, new         technology companies, and innovators. 

Osceola County's         business community is served by the        Mid-Michigan Regional Center located         at the Mid Michigan Community College in Harrison.
