POSITION:                 Emergency Medical Services Paramedic

STATUS:                    Full-Time   (EXEMPT)

SALARY RANGE:    $32,701.59   ($9.83 per hour)

DESCRIPTION:       

Under the supervision of the Emergency Medical Services Director or their designee serves as part of a professional medical crew responsible for initial patient assessment and treatment in emergent, non-emergent pre-hospital patient care situations.  Must be able to perform life-saving functions without the resources that are normally available in the “in-house” setting.  Must act appropriately using his/her own discretion to maintain control and organization of pre-hospital scenes while following written/verbal Medical Control protocols/orders.  Performs initial and on-going assessment of each patient.  Collects data on patients for making accurate diagnosis based and implements appropriate medical protocols.  Collects data as well as for billing purposes.  Collaborates with other health care professionals and participates in educational processes.    

QUALIFICATIONS:

Michigan Paramedic Licensure as required by the Michigan Department of Consumer & Industry Services, EMS Division.  Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.  Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification. Trauma Life Support Certification.   Must be able to work in collaboration with all segments of the population, both private and public, and maintain positive relationships within EMS Field.  Must respect the needs and rights of co-workers, patients and the public and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.  Possession of a valid Michigan Vehicle Operator’s License.
